1. General Information :

Setúbal is a Portuguese city located in the District of Setúbal. The municipality currently occupies an area of 172 km² and has a total population of 121 185 inhabitants (2010), split up into 5 “freguesias”.
It borders the municipalities of Palmela on the north and on the east, of Sesimbra on the west and the Sado river estuary on the south, which connects it to Alcacer do Sal and Grândola.

Prevention & Safety

The municipal Safety Council is an entity  with consultative functions. Its general objectives are:

• To contribute to a deep knowledge of the security situation in the city of Setubal, through consultation between all relevant entities
• Formulate proposals for solving the problems of crime and security of citizens in the city and participate in prevention actions
• Promote discussion on fight against crime  and social exclusion
• Approve resolutions and requests to be sent to all relevant entities and directly related to security issues and social inclusion
