> Meeting of the “Just & Safer Cities for All” working group (noon to 2 pm, UNESCO)

The “Just & Safer Cities for All” working group, which was established during the May 2018 General Assembly meeting in Liege (BE), seeks to promote human rights by encouraging local authorities to adopt better policies to prevent discriminatory violence and create safer cities for all their residents.

The meeting will be focused on the exchange of practices and experience on local prevention policies against discriminatory violence, as well as on the next steps needed to consolidate the working group. Representatives from the European Union Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA), UNESCO’s group of inclusive cities and of other national institutions working to curb discriminatory violence will be in attendance.

> UNESCO’s conference on “Building sustainable and resilient cities”,

Efus decided to combine this meeting with UNESCO’s conference on “Building sustainable and resilient cities”, which is organised the same day and with support from Efus as part of the World Cities Day.  The objective of this conference, which will include a roundtable, artistic performances and a film screening, is to highlight “the key role of cities in promoting social inclusion and diversity”.

Participants in the Just & Safer Cities for All working group meeting are invited to also attend this event, which will gather mayors, urban specialists and artists.
