Cover_S&T_ENG_2The tourist city, regardless of its size or type of tourism, must consider security as a major concern in its development strategy. Whereas in the past, security and tourism policies were often conducted separately, dialogue between these two spheres is now essential.

This publication aims to encourage local security and tourism strategies contributing to the sustainable development of cities and the quality of life of  tourists and residents alike. It includes examples of various practices and a series of recommendations that can be used by any European city or region facing these issues.

This publication is the result of the work carried out during two years as part of the Security and Tourism European project by seven Efus member cities: Alba (IT), Barcelone (ES), Brasov (RO), Munich (DE), Rome (IT), Saint-Denis (FR) and absl BRAVVO of the City of Brussels (BE), accompanied by the Portuguese Victim Support Association (Apav)Using the experience of partner cities and with the help of two experts in the field, this publication provides an overview of major security and tourism topics.
