European Prize for Social Integration through Sport
Awards ceremony and Debate,
3 July 2016, Saint-Denis
The awards ceremony for the European Prize for Social Integration through Sport is organised by the European Forum for Urban Security with the support of the European Commission. This prize aims to help develop initiatives promoting social integration through the teaching of values such as respect and tolerance through sport. One winner will be awarded in each of the following categories: Prevention and fight against racism; Promotion of gender equality; Integration of marginalised people; Inclusion of people at risk; Education in active citizenship or fair play.
The European Prize for Social Integration through Sport is organised as part of the Sport + Project and in partnership with the ASBL Fan coaching-Eurofan (Belgium), the University of Zaragoza (Spain), the Italian Forum for Urban Security (FISU), the Knowlegde Center for Sports (Netherlands) and the Higher Institute of Police Sciences and Internal Security (ISCPSI – Portugal).
The ceremony will feature in the ‘Euro 2016 Debates’ organised by the Agency for Education through Sport (APELS) as part of the initiative of the city of Saint-Denis.

17.30-18.00 Awards ceremony for the European Prize for Integration through Sport, organised by Efus
In the presence of Marco Antonio de Marchi, sponsor of the ceremony, the Prize winners and participants as well as the SPORT+ project partners and experts.
18.00-19.30 Debate: “Sport and Culture: an impossible marriage?” organised by the Agency for Education through Sport as part of the initiative of the City of Saint-Denis.
In the presence of French athletes and artistes, and with youth testimonies, the debate will be a meeting with those who have bridged the gap between sport and culture. Changing the opinion that culture is reserved for the elite and that sport is for the working class, gateways between sport and culture are now possible thanks to the new integrated practices. Nowadays there are new ways to explore and appropriate public spaces through new practices that address the city as a playing field.
