Efus works on a daily basis to strengthen the role of local and regional authorities and their elected representatives within both national and European governance, on the basis of the principles defended in our Manifesto, namely the coproduction of security policies with citizens and the essential alliance between security and fundamental human rights.
Adopted at the end of the 2017 edition of the Security, Democracy and Cities conference, the Manifesto is a political platform on urban security developed by Efus, which outlines the values and principles that underpin both Efus’ work and that of its members. Find out more
Adopted at the end of the 2021 edition of the Security, Democracy and Cities conference , the Declaration calls for heightened and more agile cooperation as well as adequate financial support between the local, national and European levels of governance. It also calls for the establishment of a Convention of Mayors for Security that would enable European local authorities to jointly respond to the many challenges they are facing. Find out more

Efus is coordinating with the cities of Nice (France) and Madrid (Spain) this new partnership that enables local and regional authorities, Member States and European institutions to work together to strengthen the role of cities in European security policies, to share knowledge and good practices, and to advocate at the European level for legislative reform and new funding frameworks.
