Visionary: a website about school bullying and violence

Visionary is a European collaborative project on school bullying and violence (SBV), addressing teachers, parents, professionals, pupils and others interested in the topic. The portal aims to help all who search for background information on SBV, project descriptions, good practice, materials and other resources on SBV on the internet. The portal also wants to support all who are interested in exchanging ideas and experiences with others at an international level. The main sections are available in each of the languages of present and former partner countries: English, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Romanian, Danish and Finnish.

This website results from two different European projects both funded by the Socrates/Minerva programme of the European Commission.

In the first phase of the project, the Visionary project (2000-2003), a team of experts from five countries –Germany, Denmark, Finland, Portugal and the UK – created the basic structure of this portal.

In the second phase, the Visionaries-net project (2004-2006), Efus, along with the Centre for Educational Research of the University of Koblenz-Landau (Germany), the University of Córdoba (Spain) and the Concept Foundation (Romania) completely revised the portal and extended it by three further languages: French, Spanish and Romanian. Furthermore the four partners of this second phase – Germany, France, Spain and Romania – held five online conferences that aim at bringing together different groups of experts on school bullying and violence from different countries and cultures.
