Join a working group on senior citizens: 20-21 November 2014, Barcelona

During our last general assembly we decided to set up a working group on  senior citizens, as proposed by the Generalitat of Catalonia. Other cities such as Brno (Czech Republic) and Matosinhos (Portugal) also expressed interest in working on this theme, which is of special importance for public authorities given Europe’s demographic evolution.

Citizens who are considered “senior”, i.e. aged over 65, are indeed a particularly vulnerable group as they are prey to abuse (psychological or physical) and assault.

As of today, it appears that local policies and actions do not always take into account this category of population, even though there are many projects and practices of prevention, support and information that concern elderly people.

The Generalitat of Catalonia, with the support of Efus and the Spanish Forum for Urban Security (FEPSU), has the pleasure to invite you to the opening meeting of the working group, which will be held in Barcelona (Spain), on 20 and 21 November.

The objectives of the working group are to gather existing practices in Europe in this field, to further knowledge and to make a series of recommendations for a comprehensive European policy on this issue.
