Third meeting of the partners of the EEMUS/ECUS project for a University Diploma in Urban Security, in Maribor, Slovenia

Lljubjana, Slovenia, 11-12 October 2012 – Efus and the partners of the ECUS/EEMUS project for the creation of a university diploma in urban security held their third coordination meeting on 11 and 12 October, at the University of Maribor in Lljubjana, Slovenia.

The “European Certificate in Urban Security / European Executive Master’s in Urban Security” (ECUS/EEMUS) project, co-financed by the Lifelong Learning (LLP Erasmus) programme of the European Commission, gathers Efus and the Universities of Toulouse 1 Capitole in France, Liege in Belgium, Ostfalia in Germany, Geneva in Switzerland, Maribor in Slovenia, and Bologna in Italy.

During the meeting, partners defined the criteria for selecting students as well as the registration requisites, and the process of supervision and evaluation of the first experimental year of the programme. It will start in February 2013 and registration will be open mid-November on the website of Efus and at all partner universities.

The first diploma will be available to a select group of a maximum of 20 students and professionals (as part of vocational training). Created jointly by the six partner universities and Efus, it will be entirely based on e-learning. The diploma will also give access to an internship in one of the cities member of Efus.

Although it is an academic programme, this course aims at preparing future security professionals rather than researchers. Internships and experts from Efus network will guarantee that students acquire professionals skills.

The diploma and the e-learning platform will be presented at the international conference “Security, Democracy and Cities: The Future of Prevention” of Aubervilliers and Saint-Denis, on 12, 13 and 14 December. In particular, there will be a dedicated Zoom session. Also, information about the programme will be available at Efus’ exhibition stand, which will be situated in the exhibition area of the conference, in Saint-Denis’ Stade de France.

Taking advantage of her visit in Lljubjana, Efus Project Manager, Carla Napolano, also met the city’s Director General of Services, Jožka Hegler, in order to present the activities of the Forum and invite the Mayor of Lljubjana, Zoran Janković, to join Efus network and to attend the 2012 conference.
