La Rochelle, France, February 2017 – Created last year by the urban community of La Rochelle and the Angoul’loisirs association for “youth and popular education”, the FestiPREV film festival, which showcases short films made by young people on the theme of citizenship and crime prevention, will be held from 11 to 13 May in La Rochelle (France).
The European and French Forums (Efus and FFSU) are partners of this event, whose aim is to “respond to issues linked to crime prevention in an innovative and fun manner”, and Elizabeth Johnston, Executive Director, will be a member of the jury.
Last year, nine secondary schools of La Rochelle and 15 social and educational organisations took part in the project by helping young people produce a short. In total, some 200 pupils contributed to the realisation of nine films on themes such as racket, drugs, discrimination, homosexuality, theft, integration, alcohol, suicide and harassment.
This year, FestiPREV calls young people aged from 9 to 25 (who live in La Rochelle, another French region or another country) to present their project. The shorts (between 90 seconds and five minutes maximum) can be fiction, documentary or animation, and must be about crime prevention and citizenships. They must be written and directed by young people, but they can do so with the help of teachers or film professionals.
The films must have been produced after 1st January 2015. They must be in French or, if in another language, have French subtitles.
The deadline for the reception of applications is 31 March.
