Villiers-le-Bel

1. General Information :

Villiers-le-Bel is a commune in the south east of the Val-d’Oise department in the Île-de-France region, around 18km north of Paris. It is the capital of the canton Villiers-le-Bel. The commune was once a rural village in Pays de France until the 1920s when a housing development scheme turned it into a residential suburb; it underwent a dramatic social transformation after a large housing complex was built in the late 1950s. Its residents are called the “Beauvillésois” in French.
