September 2021 – The European Forum for Urban Security is honoured to announce the signature in September 2021 of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Budapest Centre for Mass Atrocities Prevention (BCMAP), which is the operational body of the Foundation for the International Prevention of Genocide and Mass Atrocities.
This non-governmental, unbiased organisation aims to: prepare early warnings and ensure effective action by the international community to prevent mass atrocity crimes; improve the relevant international capacities and capabilities through awareness raising, education, studies and trainings; act as an impartial partner of national authorities, the United Nations, regional organisations, the European Union and other international actors.
In light of their shared values and numerous common objectives, Efus and the BCMAP signed a Memorendum of Understanding which creates a framework to closely work together on the enhancement of the capabilities of cities in the improvement of security and social cohesion, prevention of crimes, and countering radicalisation and extremism, with special attention to addressing polarisation, discrimination and hatred.
To this end, the two organisations will work jointly to facilitate the cooperation of European cities and involve Central and Eastern European (CEE) Cities in the ongoing activities within Efus’ well established and broad network.
