1. General Information :
Paris, the capital city of France, is the country’s most highly populated city. It is the capital of the Île-de-France region and the country’s only ‘commune-department’. Paris is situated on a bend of the river Seine, at the heart of the Paris basin, where the Marne and the Seine meet upstream, and the Oise and the Seine meet downstream. Inhabitants are known in English as Parisians.

Local Safety Contract: The first Parisian safety contract was signed on 6 January 2000. The first amendment was signed in 2002, arranging the division of the safety contract into 20 contracts by arrondissement as well as the creation of a monitoring committee and a forum for discussion. The Paris contract was updated in 2009 for the period 2009-2012.

News from the city: At present Paris is interested in issues regarding the prevention of reoffending. Paris has set up a service of night-time guardians and has social workers at police stations.
