Conference on urban safety and the use of CCTV
Budapest: 3 December 2009
This year, the Urban Safety Conference of the city of Budapest will be dedicated to the use of CCTV and the question of video surveillance. As the European Forum for Urban Safety has launched its EU-sponsored project « Citizens, cities and video surveillance » this year’s conference will be organised in direct cooperation with EFUS and its Budapest office.
The project « Citizens, cities and video surveillance » is about reconciling CCTV and individual liberties: making use of technology to increase security and respecting individual liberties and privacy.
The city of Budapest will not only host the second working seminar of the European project December 3rd and 4th 2009, but has also decided to dedicate its own conference to the issue of CCTV. The city of Budapest will in this way -together with other actors and EFUS member cities such as Brno- contribute to giving this EFUS initiative a central European dimension.
As every year, EFUS members are cordially invited to participate at this European meeting on urban safety at the Danube.
