conférence nationale sur la vie nocturne à Nantes

Paris, March 2015 Efus is one of the partners of the first national conference ever organised in France on nightlife, which will be held in Nantes on 13-14 April. Organised by the association Culture Bar-Bars and with the support of the city of Nantes and the Regional Council of the Loire region, the conference is also partnered by the Centre for Administrative, Political and Social Studies and Research (Centre d’études et de recherches administratives, politiques et sociales, CERAPS), which is attached to the French National Centre for Scientific Research (Centre national de la recherche scientifique, CNRS).

The conference will gather political decision-makers, practitioners, academics, and cultural and nightlife professionals with the objective of drawing a broad picture of the recent developments in nightlife in France as well as taking stock of the current legislation. Participants will exchange their opinions and experiences about nightlife according to a holistic and integrated approach, as recommended by Efus in its resolution calling for a sustainable and quality nightlife (“For a global policy on night-time”, October 2014).

Furthermore, a number of cities member of Efus are working on this topic through an ad hoc working group set up by Efus. Based on the findings of European projects and on the recommendations of the Manifesto of Aubervilliers and Saint-Denis, these exchanges contribute to creating a common culture on nightlife that is coherent with the principles of the European Forum but also respectful of the diversity of member cities.

Following the conference, cities member of the working group will meet in Nantes, where they will be received by Gilles Nicolas, Deputy Mayor and Vice President of Efus, to discuss current developments, as well as their projects and needs. They will also agree on a shared work programme.
