Rennes

1. General Information :

Rennes is a French commune; it is the capital of the region of Brittany and the Ille-et-Vilaine department as well as one of the historic capitals of the Duchy of Brittany. It is situated in the east of Brittany where Ille and Vilaine meet. The inhabitants of Rennes are called Rennais and Rennaises in French.

Safety contract: signed in 1998. In 2009 a charter for nightlife in Rennes was added. This charter was signed on 7 September 2009. The city published a magazine in 2010 specifically presenting its policies on security, public peace, crime prevention and mediation.

The city is also in an accompaniment partnership with: Hué (Vietnam) since 1992, Le Comté de Hotin (Moldova) since 1994 and Circle of Bandiagara (Mali) since 1995.

The city is also twinned with two French communes: Rennes-les-Bains (France) since July 1985 and Saint-Gilles-du-Méné (France) since 1978.

The city also sponsors the French commune: Vouziers (France).
