Rotterdam is the second largest city of the Netherlands with a population of 584,046 situated in the province of South Holland in the west of the Netherlands. It forms the southern part of the Randstad, the sixth-largest metropolitan area in Europe, with a population of 6.7 million.
Rotterdam has the largest port in Europe, with the rivers Meuse and Rhine providing excellent access to the hinterland upstream reaching far into Werstern Europe. Unitil 2004 Rotterdam was also the world’s busiest port.
