Radim Bures

Radim Bures graduated in Philosophy and Economy from Charles University in Prague and was a visiting postdoc at St. Antony´s College, Oxford University.  Since the mid-nineties, he has worked in the fields of criminology and crime prevention, working as Deputy Director of the Crime Prevention Department at the Czech Ministry of Interior. During this time, he worked on issues related to the police and human rights, general crime prevention and prevention of human trafficking, sport violence and corruption. He has cooperated with the Council of Europe, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and EU crime prevention network in the past and undertaken short professional visits in the USA and the UK. Radim was a speaker at the UN Crime Congresses in 2000 and 2006. He is also a member of the first Board of the Czech Society of Criminology. From 2008 to 2013, he was a member of the Czech Chapter of Transparency International, and from 2013-16, he was its Program Director. Radim is a member of the National Council for Fighting Against Corruption. Since May 2016 he has also been Deputy Director General of the Czech Probation and Mediation Service.
