Amadeu Recasens

Commissioner for Public Safety and Crime Prevention of the City of Barcelona, Spain

Amadeu Recasens Brunet, is Security Commissioner at Barcelona City Council. During his professional career he has been the director of several departments and entities in the fields of state security, autonomous and local administration. He has also worked as an expert and member of several projects within the Council of Europe, the European Union and the United Nations. In terms of teaching, he has been an associate professor at the University of Barcelona and has taught at other universities in Argentina, Brazil, France, Italy, Portugal and Venezuela.

He is a member of the Scientific Committee of the GERN (European Research Group on Normativities/Groupe Européen de Recherches sur les Normativités) and associate researcher at CESDIP (Centre of Research on Law and Judicial Institutions/Centre de Recherches sur le Droit et les Institutions Pénales). He has also been a member of the scientific drafting committees of several national and international scientific publications in the field of security and police. He is author and co-author of numerous publications, books and articles about security and the police.
