Saint-Herblain is a French commune in the western suburb of Nantes, located in the Loire-Atlantique department and in the Pays de la Loire Region. It is the third municipality of the department with a population of 43 177 inhabitants in 2008. The people who live there are known as the Herblinois.

Safety contract: The city of Saint-Herblain signed an inter-communal safety and crime prevention contract for 1998-2007. A communal local safety contract is being drawn up at present.

News from the city

  • The city of Saint-Herblain was a partner of the Project CCTV. At the end of the project, the city was the first French city to sign the European Charter for a democratic use of CCTV (http://www.cctvcharter.eu/).
  • The Mayor-Senator Charles Gautier has been a member of the “Board of Directors of the National Crime Monitoring Centre” since 15 October 2008. He was also a member of the National Commission on CCTV (CNV) and an elected member of the Board of Directors of CNFPT, in charge of security training courses.
