‘Public spaces, urban services and citizen security in Latin America’ Network, 2007
This network aims to raise awareness among local decision makers of Latin American cities for an intersectorial and interactive management of urban spaces in order to achieve a greater understanding of urban risks and to improve citizens’ security.
On January 23rd and 24th 2007, Barcelona’s CIFAL (International Training Centre of Local Actors) organised the first meeting of the “Public spaces, urban services and citizen security in Latin America” network partners. The aim was to establish a managing committee composed of the founding members of the project: UNITAR, CIFAL Barcelona, EPFL and Veolia, as well as members of the experts’ network, among whom were the EFUS, and high representatives of the network’s cities.
An international launch conference on the theme “Access to urban services and public space planning as a means of safety: role of public, private and community actors”, was held on September 4th-6th in Bogotá (Colombia).
