Secucities ‘Municipal transportation, safety and re-socialization’, 1994
Based on the results of the 2nd International Conference, dedicated to safety, drug abuse and the prevention of criminal environment (Paris, November 18-20, 1991), which brought together over 1600 persons, experts, professionals and deputies representing 65 countries, the EFUS decided to create a program entitled ‘Municipal Transportation, Safety and Re-socialisation’ in the framework of the European programme ECOS. The cities that participated in the program were Barcelona, Lille, Lisbon and Sofia.
After having taken into consideration social dysfunctions caused by the urban transport network, the project aimed at treating city experiences in order to favor safety and social reintegration and thereby:
-Favor community mobilization by improving safety and fighting exclusion in urban transport,
-Use largely urban transport as an opportunity of personalized integration of young people in difficulty,
-Contribute to the training of actors of safety and social integration in transport,
-Favor the reduction of insecurity and the feeling of insecurity in transport networks.
The project included:
-A convention in Lille on the 18th and 19th of May 1994 (Study case of Lille, creation of a steering group and treatment of experiences, establishment of a common grid of diagnosis)
-Audits in Barcelona on the 10th and 11th of May 1994, in Dublin on the 1st and 2nd of June 1994 and in Sofia on the 23rd and 24th of June 1994,
-A seminary in Sofia on the 27th -28th of June 1994
-A study case on the children of the train station in Sofia (26th and 29th of November 1994)
-Training courses in Lille (16th and 17th of December 1994)
