Study on ‘Urban Safety and the Elderly’, 1994-1996
Efus, with the support of the European Commission, undertook a study in five European cities: Bologna (Italy), Grenoble (France), Hanover (Germany), Nottingham (UK) and Stockholm (Sweden).
The study examined, on the one hand, security problems among elderly people and services provided for them and, on the other hand, innovative projects attempted in various cities in response to these problems.
A further stage involved defining the terms of a policy which would respond more adequately to the safety problems and the feelings of insecurity among senior citizens.
The study’s conclusions can be found in the Efus publication; EFUS, Urban Safety and the Elderly, 1996.
