Bielefeld, 22 April 2013 – Cities member of the German Forum for urban security (DEFUS) adopted the Manifesto of Aubervilliers and Saint-Denis during their General Assembly, held in Bielefeld (Germany) on 22 and 23 April 2013 on the occasion of the 18th German Congress on crime prevention.
In the presence of the European Forum for Urban Security Executive Director, Elizabeth Johnston, representatives of DEFUS member cities signed the manifesto to express their engagement towards its principles and values.
DEFUS president, Dr. Martin Schairer, welcomed the manifesto as a source of support and inspiration for local authorities in Europe. He added that this document reflects their stance about crime prevention at national, European and international levels. (Read the DEFUS press release).
Ms Johnston also made a public presentation of the Manifesto of Aubervilliers and Saint-Denis during the congress, which brought together some 3,000 participants from 23 countries. (Click here to see a video of the presentation.)
