More than 900 people attended Efus fifth international conference “Security, Democracy and Cities: The Future of Prevention”, organised jointly with the cities of Aubervilliers and Saint-Denis on 12, 13 and 14 December.
200 cities, 40 countries and 5 continents were represented at the 2012 edition of Efus’ international conference.
Thanks to all for your presence and your participation. We hope the conference has been fruitful, full of interesting exchange and new opportunities of partnerships.
We publish here the Manifesto of Aubervilliers and Saint-Denis, which was adopted at the end of the conference. In this Manifesto, Efus member cities call for long-term policies to manage security as opposed to short-term management. They claim that prevention is a rational, strategic and cost-effective option. In particular, they call for a full participation of youth and demand that citizen participation be included as a overall principle ruling of all security policies. 19 thematic recommendations, founded on the work of the conference of December 2012, complete the manifesto.
